...twist
Hedda killed herself, it surprised me. It's pretty depressing thinking that the only way to escape a power structure/hierarchy is to just end your life, I feel like there are far more options to escape. Throughout the play it didnt really seem like Hedda had "control issues," considering how bossy she was towards other characters in the novel, and the way Tesman described how he spoils her. I guess it took some close reading to fully understand the intentions of all the characters in the play.

I completely agree with u except for the whole twist thing. Hedda was a big complainer... She wanted more and more power and control and more things to control and her obsession with pistols kind of set up the idea that she was going to kill herself. But I do agree that she basically had control of many aspects in her life -especially george.
Well there are other option out there for her to choose, but with a husband she doesnt love, a lost love, and her total loss of power, it jus seems like she was in total distress.... maybe if she would have thought about it a litlle longer she wouldnt have killed herself and found an alternative or dealt with it. But that suicide puts that twist on it
